Charleen is a portrait of McElwee’s eccentric friend and former high school teacher. Backyard explores a microcosm of Southern society, starting with the filmmaker’s own family.

Auckland Film Society's 2008 Season screens at the Academy Cinema, 44 Lorne St, Auckland City, Mondays at 6:30 pm, March – October (except public holidays)

Contractual requirements mean most AFS screenings are Members Only. We have non-commercial screening rights for most films, which means no ticket sales.
